Federal aviation databases cover aircraft registration, pilot certification, accident investigations, and airspace data. Maintained primarily by the FAA and the NTSB.
What this page covers: FAA aircraft registration (N-number lookup), pilot certificate verification, NTSB accident/incident reports, and airworthiness directives. What it does not cover: Airline ticket or flight booking information, or military aviation records.
Where to start: For aircraft ownership, use the FAA N-number registry. For pilot credentials, use the FAA Airmen Certification database. For accident reports, use the NTSB Aviation Accident Database (covers 1962 to present).
