About Georgia Public Records

Georgia public records are governed by the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq. All public records of state and local government agencies must be open for inspection and copying within three business days of a request. Records include documents, letters, computer files, video and audio recordings, maps, and other materials received in the course of public business. Exemptions cover personnel files, attorney work product, active investigations, and trade secrets.
