Rhode Island's Secretary of State built a corporate database that searches by an individual's name as officer or director, by agent, by business address and even by purpose, and its Judiciary runs a single public portal whose register of actions covers the state's courts, with every public electronic record open on courthouse terminals. The Parole Board explains which sex offenders appear on the public website and which do not, and the Department of Health verifies every health license in real time.
The order to use: the corporate database by individual name, the Judiciary Public Portal for cases, the incarceration search for custody, the health license verification for a profession, then the city and town offices for deeds and local records, listed on the Rhode Island pages at SearchSystems.
- Courts: the Rhode Island Judiciary Public Portal, Smart Search and hearing search, with full public access on courthouse terminals.
- People behind companies: the Secretary of State's corporate database, searched by individual name, agent, address, purpose or NAICS code.
- In custody: the Department of Corrections Incarceration Search.
- Registered offenders: the state sex offender website, governed by the Parole Board's community notification levels.
- Licenses, certificates and money: the Department of Health license verification, the Center for Vital Records and Find RI Money.
Written by SearchSystems.net from Rhode Island's own systems: the Rhode Island Judiciary, the Rhode Island Secretary of State, the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, the Rhode Island Parole Board, the Rhode Island Department of Health, the Rhode Island Board of Elections, the Rhode Island General Assembly, the Rhode Island Attorney General, each read on October 13, 2026 by the SearchSystems editorial team.
The Judiciary Public Portal
The Rhode Island Judiciary's Access to Case Information page describes the Public Portal as the point of entry for electronic access to the Judiciary's database, at the courthouse or remotely: an electronic collection of court records displayed as a register of actions or docket sheet listing parties, case events, document filings and other activities in chronological order, with access to each entry governed by security rights and roles under the Judiciary's data subscription agreement. The portal itself offers Smart Search for court records and a hearing search by date range, under terms of use that bind anyone who uses it, with Smart Search features added May 18, 2019 and the online payment portal replaced on May 19, 2025. At the courthouse, the Supreme, Superior, Family, District and Workers' Compensation Courts and the Traffic Tribunal keep computer terminals in the clerks' offices for anyone to review all public electronic case information during business hours, excluding sealed cases and confidential case types under the Public Access Rules.
The corporate database: by officer, director, agent or address
The Secretary of State's corporate database searches for an entity by name, covering corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, LLCs and non resident landlords, with active or inactive status, and it also searches by an individual's name as officer, director or other role, entered as first, middle and last; by nine digit identification number; by twelve digit filing number; by agent; by business address; by purpose; and by NAICS code. A historic corporate catalog sits alongside. For a people search the individual name search and the business address search are the entries: one lists every company the person serves, the other every company registered at a given address.
The incarceration search and the notification levels
The Department of Corrections' Incarceration Search page delivered its heading alone, and the department's older inmate search address refused the read, so the search fields are on the page. The Parole Board's Sex Offender Community Notification Unit explains what the public website holds. Under the Sexual Offender Registration and Community Notification Act, local police notify communities about people living or working in Rhode Island who were convicted, here or elsewhere, of an eligible sex offense committed on or after July 24, 1996, with the scope set by the risk level assigned by the Sex Offender Board of Review. Level I, low risk, is notified to law enforcement only, with victims and witnesses told on request; Level II, moderate risk, adds agencies likely to encounter the offender and posting to the public website for adult offenders; Level III, high risk, adds individuals likely to encounter the offender and the same public posting. A Level I offender is therefore not on the public site.
Health licenses, verified in real time
The Department of Health's online verification site searches a health professional's license by profession, license type, status, first name, last name or license number, with an asterisk for partial entries when spelling is uncertain, and a separate search for facilities and businesses. The department says the information is made public under the Access to Public Records Law, R.I.G.L. 38-2, is drawn directly from license applications in its License 2000 database, is updated daily, is the only official real time verification of license status it provides, and meets Joint Commission standards for primary source verification. A complaint about a licensee starts with the same search.
Register to Vote and the Center for Vital Records
The Board of Elections' Register to Vote page handles registration and updates, with forms processed by the local Board of Canvassers, and it warns that a phone number entered on the form becomes public record available to any entity that requests it; the Secretary of State's voter information site refused an automated read, so no voter lookup is described. The Department of Health's Center for Vital Records, which issues birth, death, marriage and adoption certificates, is in Simpson Hall on the Pastore Campus at 6 Harrington Rd., Cranston, with four ways to request a record set out on its site.
Find RI Money, the ACP and the Access to Public Records Act
Find RI Money, the state's unclaimed property search, answered with its title only. The Secretary of State's Address Confidentiality Program page at the address SearchSystems tried returned not found; the office's own description of the program gives it two components, a substitute address service using a single Providence post office box for all participants and a protected records service, for victims of domestic violence or abuse living at a Rhode Island address unknown to the perpetrator, certified for five years, under the Address Confidentiality Program Act in chapter 42-162. The Access to Public Records Act is Title 38, Chapter 2 of the General Laws, published by the General Assembly; the Attorney General's open government unit page returned not found, so the Act's text is the source. The Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Identification handles background checks, and its page gave only a heading, so the terms of a Rhode Island criminal record check are on the bureau's pages.
Rhode Island: corporate search by officer, portal for cases
Rhode Island's corporate database and health license verification identify a person by name and livelihood, the Judiciary portal and the courthouse terminals supply the cases, and the incarceration search and the notification levels settle status. Deeds and local records are listed city by city and town by town on the Rhode Island pages at SearchSystems.
Paid people search reports on Rhode Islanders are assembled from these records; the Judiciary portal and the local land records are where their claims are checked.
