Minnesota publishes its district court records online with documents, makes every death record public for a noncertified copy, and warns anyone filing a business that every individual name and address they supply becomes public data viewable online. Its registry site shows only Level 3 and publicly noticed registrants, with a separate search for predatory registrants who have fallen out of compliance.
The order to use: MCRO for cases and judgments, the DOC locator and the registrant searches for status, the business filings search for companies, the voter status check to confirm a name and address, MDH or a county office for a death record or a noncertified birth record, then the county recorder and assessor for property, listed on the Minnesota county pages at SearchSystems.
- Courts, statewide: Minnesota Court Records Online, cases, hearings and monetary judgments for all district courts, with public documents.
- Prison and supervision: the Department of Corrections incarcerated individual search locator, for people still under its jurisdiction.
- Registrants: the DOC public registrant search and the BCA non compliant predatory registrant search by name, age and location.
- Companies and voters: the Secretary of State's business filings search and voter registration status check.
- Certificates and money: MDH vital records, including public death records, and unclaimed property at the Department of Commerce.

Minnesota Court Records Online
The Minnesota Judicial Branch's Minnesota Court Records Online, MCRO, provides online access to many public state district court records and documents through four search tabs; the Case Search finds cases by person name, business name, attorney name, case number, citation number or attorney bar number and opens a Register of Actions and the public documents, and the system also searches hearings and monetary judgments. Case records are displayed for all Minnesota district courts, and the information is limited to case, hearing and judgment search results, case record information, Registers of Actions, judgment details and the documents that Rule 8 of the Rules of Public Access to Records of the Judicial Branch allows online; courthouse public access terminals give the most complete access to electronic records, and errors are reported to local court administration. The search application rejected SearchSystems' automated request on October 13, 2026, so its disclaimer is on the site; appellate opinions and case records are in the Minnesota Appellate Courts Case Management System.
The DOC locator, the registrant search and the fugitives
The Minnesota Department of Corrections' Search for Individuals and Fugitives page explains that its incarcerated individual search locator holds public information about people committed to the Commissioner of Corrections who are still under the department's jurisdiction, in prison or released and still under supervision; someone whose supervision has ended is not in it. Victims and the public can request custody status notifications through Minnesota Haven. The department's public registrant search discloses information on people required to register under Minnesota Statutes 243.166 or 243.167 who are also subject to public notification under 244.052 or 253D.32, meaning Level 3 offenders and others law enforcement chooses to notify about; the local law enforcement agency decides case by case what to disclose, and the department posts it within 48 hours of authorization. A separate search of the BCA database finds non compliant predatory registrants by first name, last name, age and location, and shows only those whose registration is out of date. Wanted fugitives are people serving the last third of a sentence on supervised release who have allegedly violated its terms, with tips to the department's 24 hour line at 651-603-0026.
Companies: public data, including names and addresses
The Secretary of State's Business Filings Online search looks up business information by name or file number, with options to search names that begin with or contain the text, to include inactive filings and prior names, and to order copies or a certificate. Its filing notice is the people search fact: information provided when filing a business entity is public data and may be viewable online, including all individual names and addresses. Filing fees run from $50.00 for an assumed name and $55.00 for a name reservation to $155.00 for a domestic corporation or LLC. The search is by business name, so it confirms a company and then shows the people in its filing.
Voters and licenses
The Secretary of State's Find Your Minnesota Voter Registration page answers the question Am I registered to vote in Minnesota from a name, birthday and address, all required, returning a confirmation or instructions on next steps; the site updates nightly and election officials may take up to 14 days to process an application. It is framed as a check of one's own registration. The Board of Medical Practice's license verification page sent the automated reader to a bot check, so physician verification is on the board's site.
Vital records: public deaths, restricted births, counties for speed
The Minnesota Department of Health's Office of Vital Records issues birth and death records by mail or fax, holds births since 1900 and deaths since 1908, and publishes its processing times daily; on October 13, 2026 it had mailed birth and death orders received through October 9. For faster service it points to the county vital records offices, found through its directory, where most orders are filled while you wait, since MDH does no in person service. Records come certified on security paper or noncertified on plain paper for information only, both showing the subject's name, sex, date and place of birth or death and parent information. Eligibility is set by state law for certified records, but the office states two public rules: if a birth record is public, anyone may buy a noncertified copy, and all Minnesota death records are public, so anyone may buy a noncertified death record. The office also offers Verify a Death for 1997 to the present and explains where marriage certificates and divorce decrees are obtained. Giving false information to obtain a record is illegal. The office answers at 651-201-5970.
Unclaimed property, Safe at Home and data practices
The Department of Commerce's Find Your Missing Money and Unclaimed Property page explains that businesses that lose contact with an owner for a set number of years must attempt contact and then send the property to Commerce, which safeguards it for the owner or heirs; the department receives millions of dollars a year and answers at 651-539-1545 and 1-800-925-5668. The Secretary of State's Safe at Home program assigns a PO Box address to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or others who fear for their safety and forwards their mail, with enrollment through an application assistant under state law. The Department of Administration's Data Practices Office advises the public and government on the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and the Open Meeting Law, explains how data is classified, how to request data with a sample request, and what remedies exist for violations, at 651-296-6733 and info.dpo@state.mn.us. The BCA's public criminal history search did not answer an automated read, so Minnesota's criminal history terms are on the BCA site.
Minnesota: MCRO, the locator and public death records
MCRO carries the Minnesota case and judgment record with documents, the DOC locator and the registrant searches settle status, and the business search exposes the names and addresses in a company's filing. A death is confirmed by anyone with a noncertified record, a birth by a noncertified record when the record is public. Deeds and parcels are county records at the recorder and assessor, listed on the Minnesota county pages at SearchSystems, which also list the county vital records offices.
Paid people search reports on Minnesotans are built from these public records; MCRO and the county recorder are where their claims are checked, and the death record is sold by the state itself.
