The Florida court systems is divided into limited jurisdiction courts, general jurisdiction trial courts, and appellate courts. The Florida appellate courts consist of the District Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court. The limited jurisdiction courts are County Courts, which handle misdemeanors, traffic violations, small claims under $5,000, and civil cases under $15,000.

The Circuit Courts are general jurisdiction trial courts that handle felonies, family law cases, civil cases over $15,000, probate, guardianship, mental health, and juvenile cases. Circuit Courts also hear appeals from County Courts. The State of Florida is divided into 20 judicial circuits, each with a Circuit Court.

Though Florida is one of the best states for finding online public records, their county court records are not aggregated; you have to search county courts individually.
